BLOGGING JEWISH IN DUTCHESS

 

Over the past few weeks I was unable to write this blog due to a combination of the High Holidays and my parents' visit from Buenos Aires. As I was busy enjoying my parents visit and reflecting on the past year as well as the year to come, the world unfortunately did not stop spinning...or changing.

 

With the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe's recent ban on Jewish ritual slaughter still raging, (considered to be “particularly barbaric and cruel” to justify its distinction from the Muslim practice) and the recent demand that member countries of the European Union cease to allow the commercialization of products made in Israel “beyond the Green Line”, a new and more insidious resolution just made it past that same august legislative body...
