Happy Salutation

The next meeting of the Employment Related Information and Networking
Group (E-RING) will take place on Friday January 8 at 1 p.m. at the JCCDC, 110 S Grand Ave in Poughkeepsie.

This will be an opportunity for individuals to:  learn new information
about job seeking; to network with others; and to provide
emotional/logistical support to others searching for employment.

For further information, please contact Dr. Linda Tafapolsky at
845-471-9817 or
jfs@jewishdutchess.org.

E-Ring is a service of Jewish Family Services, a division of the Jewish Federation of Dutchess County
The PJ Library is a nationwide program of the Harold Grinspoon Foundation intended to give parents and grandparents the opportunity to share Jewish stories and music with the youngest generation. The Hudson Valley PJ Library serving Dutchess, Ulster and Columbia County is administered by the JCCDC in cooperation with the Jewish Federation of Dutchess County. If you, or somebody you know, can take advantage of this program, the first step is to sign up online or contact Melinda Margulis
It is common knowledge that dogs have better night vision than humans and a vastly superior sense of smell and hearing. Israel's Bio-Sense Technologies recently delved further and electronically analyzed 350 different barks. Finding that dogs of all breeds and sizes bark the same alarm when they sense a threat, the firm has designed the dog-bark reader, a sensor that can pick up a dog's alarm bark and alert the human operators. This is just one of a batch of innovative security systems to emerge from Israel, which Forbes calls 'the go-to country for anti-terrorism technologies.'

At the recent National Board Meeting of the Union for Reform Judaism, the organization extended membership to Shir Chadash. The congregation, which is currently using space at the Freedom Plains Presbyterian Church, joins more than 900 other congregations from accross the United States and Canada. Shir Chadash President Michael Rothman said "in becoming members of the URJ. the congregation has come of age and has entered the larger community of Reform Judaism"
