In the spirit of Torah study, we investigate deathbed narratives at the end of the Book of Genesis, which provide profound wisdom for dealing with end-of-life issues in our times. From Jacob and Joseph, we learn ways of dealing with the reality of death and mourning in this challenging pandemic.
Reb Simcha Raphael, Ph.D. is Founding Director of the DA'AT Institute for Death Awareness, Advocacy and Training. He has served as Adjunct Professor in Religion as LaSalle University and Temple University, and is Faculty of the Art of Dying Institute of New York Open Center. Ordained by Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi, he is a Fellow of the Rabbis Without Borders Network, and author of numerous publications including the groundbreaking Jewish Views of the Afterlife, and co-editor of Jewish End-of-Life Care in a Virtual Age: Our Traditions Reimagined.
