Through your support, the Jewish Federation of Dutchess County ensures the future of Jewish life here through our programs and beneficiary agencies.

Education
The children of our community are learning about our culture, traditions, the Hebrew language, and what it means to be a Jew in our Community Hebrew School (CHS) and the Early Childhood Program of the Jewish Community Center (JCC), both supported by Federation allocations. Each year approximately 200 children – of various denominations, or unaffiliated – participate in these programs, linking them to other Jewish children, to our heritage and to our community.

Community Educational and Cultural Programs
Creating a dynamic community where all who desire Jewish interaction are welcomed is one objective of the Federation’s diverse programming. With your support, the Federation, its beneficiaries, and affiliated organizations co-sponsor programs including prominent speakers, musical performances, community observances and celebrations. Some of these include:
· Mitzvah Day
· Yom Hashoah Holocaust Commemoration
· Israel Independence Day celebrations
· Community Menorah Lighting
· Community Seder
· Programs on Israel and the Middle East conflict
· Jewish Book Week

Community Relations
We are your advocate. The Federation addresses issues that concern you and informs others of the Jewish perspective on political, social, and educational matters. We speak out for Israel and world Jewry, educate our greater community on Jewish concerns, build relationships with other religious, ethnic, and civic groups, intervene where insensitivity to Jews becomes apparent, and participate in a variety of social justice activities.

Overseas Needs
Help strengthen and unify the worldwide Jewish community. Through the Federation your financial support is focused on: relief, rescue, and reconstruction worldwide; efforts to support Jews who choose to make Israel their home; and organizations working to address the social service needs of our brethren in Israel, Ethiopia, the former Soviet Union, and 60 other communities around the world.

Social Services
Jewish Family Services, a division of Jewish Federation, provides professional counseling, case management, information and referral to homebound constituents, seniors, individuals and families, always reflecting a Jewish perspective.
